1. Who we are

DeskPickup is operated by Gurvir Saduara, operating as DeskPickup ("DeskPickup", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers two groups of people: our customers (the businesses and owners who sign up) and callers (people who phone a business that uses DeskPickup).

If you are a caller: the business you called decided to use DeskPickup to answer its calls. We process your call on that business's behalf. See section 6 for what that means for you.

2. What we collect from customers

3. What we process about callers

When someone calls a DeskPickup receptionist, the following is processed: the caller's phone number (from caller ID), the audio of the call, a transcript, an automatically written summary, the call's time and length, and anything the caller chooses to say, such as a name, phone number or reason for calling. The receptionist is instructed never to ask for payment card numbers, passwords or government ID numbers, and callers should not share them.

4. How we use information

5. Who we share information with

We use service providers to run DeskPickup. They process information only to provide their service to us.

ProviderWhat they do
Retell AIRuns the voice receptionist: phone numbers, call handling, speech recognition and synthesis, call recordings, transcripts and summaries. Retell uses AI language-model providers to generate the receptionist's replies.
TwilioDelivers the text messages we send you, which include your call summaries and links to your dashboard.
StripeTakes payments and manages subscriptions and invoices.
AnthropicAI service we use once at sign-up to read your public website and draft your business details. Caller information is not sent to it for this purpose.
Vercel and UpstashHost our website and store our account records.
Google FontsSupplies the typefaces on our pages, which means your browser requests them from Google.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to enforce our terms or protect people's safety, or as part of a merger, sale or reorganization of our business. We do not sell personal information.

6. Callers and the businesses they call

For calls to a customer's receptionist, the customer decides why and how call information is used, and we process it on the customer's behalf to provide the service. If you are a caller and want to see, correct or delete information from your call, please contact the business you called first. You can also contact us at hello@deskpickup.com, and we will help pass your request to the business or, where appropriate, handle it ourselves.

The receptionist tells callers it is a virtual assistant and, by default, that the call may be recorded. Customers are responsible for any additional notices the law requires where they operate.

7. How long we keep information

We keep your account details, business information and call records while your account is active. After you cancel, we keep basic billing and account records as long as we need them for accounting, tax and legal reasons. You can ask us to delete your account and call records at hello@deskpickup.com, and we will do so unless we must keep something for legal reasons. Our providers may keep backups for a short additional period.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections, private access links to dashboards that can be replaced at any time, limits on repeated requests, and restricted access to our systems. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your dashboard link private, because anyone who has it can see your calls and change your receptionist.

9. Where information is processed

Our providers are based mainly in the United States, so information may be processed and stored there and in other countries. Those countries may have different privacy laws than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

10. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to or limit certain uses, receive a copy, or withdraw consent. This includes rights under Canada's privacy laws, the EU and UK GDPR, and US state privacy laws such as California's. To make a request, contact us at hello@deskpickup.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to your local privacy regulator.

Customers can change their business information at any time from their dashboard and can stop the service by cancelling.

11. Cookies and tracking

We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not track you across other websites. Our pages may store small items in your browser only when needed to make them work.

12. Children

DeskPickup is for businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 through our website or sign-up. A child could, however, phone a business that uses the service. If you believe a child's information was collected, contact us and we will help remove it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If a change is material, we will tell you by text or email where we can. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
